An opinion on gun control   Leave a comment

Reblogged from Monster Hunter Nation:

I didn’t want to post about this, because frankly, it is exhausting. I’ve been having this exact same argument for my entire adult life. It is not an exaggeration when I say that I know pretty much exactly every single thing an anti-gun person can say. I’ve heard it over and over, the same old tired stuff, trotted out every single time there is a tragedy on the news that can be milked.

December 22, 2012 There is a national conversation going on, and it's primarily emotional vomiting and bleeding all over the place. Most of the conversation is not the result of critical thinking, of awareness of history, or of the understanding of consequences of choices made. Some years ago Congress foisted one of its many logic-defying travesties upon the populace, which is called the Federal Gun Free School Zones act. When things like this are passed, it makes me wonder if there is anyone in those hallowed halls who actually thinks. They in essence hung a sign out front of every public school that says "Welcome to Your Local Hunting Preserve for Innocent Human Beings". The "hunting preserve" language is embedded in this richly presented, fact- and history-based blog by Larry Correia. Honestly, I was unaware of him until today. I think he needs to visit the White House, the Senate, the House of Representatives, then go on a national education tour. We need to reinvigorate Common Sense before it completely expires. This blog article answers every single argument for "Gun Control" of which I am aware. Whenever you hear politicians say "It's for the children", red warning lights should be going off on your dashboard. Please take the time to read and digest this wonderful article: "An Opinion on Gun Control". This is one of the few persons I have discovered in the conversation who has the robust credentials and knowledge to say things on the subject that are connected with reality. He also has the basic understanding of human nature that so many elected officials seem to completely lack.

The State Church of America   Leave a comment

There’s no need for me to multiply words here. The leaders and theologians of what’s quite possibly the most effective church in the land speak well enough. Just believe what they themselves say. More eloquence and clarity would be hard to add. We right-wing, round-the-bend rubes don’t need to foam at the mouth. Just take these clergy-types at their own word.

Design is Stupid; Random is Smart   Leave a comment

September 27, 2009

I sometimes read newspaper editorials. One by Mr. Leonard Pitts caught my “highly evolved” eye some time back; it’s been on a back burner ever since. In the article Mr. Pitts tried to make a case for allowing only science to speak in the broader culture on matters of our beginnings and how we got here. He stated that attempting to “undermine” the teaching of Darwin’s theory with any idea of intelligent design would be a step in a campaign to turn out “stupid kids”. In other words, kids taught to believe in origins of other than naturalistic evolution are stupid. We gotta keep things neutral; get that religion out of the classroom! Read the rest of this entry »

In Consideration of The Exodus Mandate   Leave a comment

January 11, 2009

The philosophy and means of education in our nation have interested and concerned me for a long time. Recently I posted on Facebook a couple of videos with strong messages about education. I thought both these presentations had several points worth serious consideration, certainly thought-provoking – even controversial. Read the rest of this entry »
